Rome, historically known as Roma, is the capital of Italy and one of the most historically significant cities in the world. Founded over 2,700 years ago, it was the center of the Roman Empire and remains a global center for culture, history, and Catholicism. I went to Vatican City, a small country inside Rome, had authentic Italian pizza, and explored major historic sites. I also checked off one of the New 7 Wonders of the World — the Colosseum — leaving me with two more to visit.
A few facts about Rome: it is often called the “Eternal City,” it has more than 900 churches, and landmarks like the Pantheon have stood for nearly 2,000 years.
