Kapadokya, Turkey is like nowhere else on Earth—otherworldly valleys, fairy chimneys, and cave dwellings carved into stone over millennia. We stayed here as a hub, both for chasing the sunrise in a hot-air balloon and for exploring the surrounding sites: the painted cave churches tucked into cliffs, the labyrinthine underground cities, and quiet villages that feel frozen in time. Most of our days were spent wandering markets, hunting for souvenirs, tasting local treats, and marveling at the landscape that has inspired countless travelers. Every corner felt like stepping into a story, and even in the crowds, there was a sense of wonder that made the bizarre terrain feel personal.
